What to wear for New Year’s Eve 2014
The boutique has been positively bursting at the seams with customers who are busily organising themselves for their Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties, and we’ve had great fun helping them choose their accessories and dresses for their events. This blissful little collection is perfect for a New Year’s Eve party and will have you looking classy and sophisticated as you twinkle and dance your way into 2014!
Pastel shades for your perfect prom dress
There is only one way to describe the weather at the moment, and that is yucky. The weather is the most miserable shade of grey, but at Walk in Wardrobe we are optimistically counteracting this by having the most gorgeous pastel coloured dresses in stock. These pastel colours are really giving me a lift and are perfect for this season, giving ladies that whimsical, princess-like grace.
Our most popular pastel shades for prom girls are by far the nudes, champagnes and pastel pinks. It is easy to see why they are such a hot favourite amongst the girls as they are gorgeous delicate hues which can be fantastic if you want to accentuate skin tone and eyes.
However, although the pinks and nudes are undeniably spectacular, do not overlook mint green and lemon. Some of the prom girls have commented that the nude champagne colours can make them look washed out. However, I have regularly found that mint greens suit girls who can look washed out in the champagne shades, probably because of the bluey undertone this colour has as opposed to the yellow undertone of a champagne dress.
To top off this prom look, you can couple the pastel dresses with sparkly accessories to give them a regal, elegant feel. After all, it’s not often you get to be a princess!

Cause a stir at your James Bond themed party!
Although Daniel Craig was partially responsible for getting my heart racing at the Skyfall Premier this month, I must confess, the main cause of excitement for me was seeing all the ladies at the event looking so glamorous in their gorgeous dresses! Bond fever seems to have struck the nation and our lovely customers are no exception; over the past few weeks we have witnessed a sudden surge of ladies coming into the boutique to find dresses for Bond themed parties.
When looking for your dress for a Bond themed party, you must look for dresses which are glamorous, sexy, but definitely not tacky. The other thing to bear in mind is that you must never try to be something that you are not. The Bond girls are all uniquely different in personality and each have their own wardrobe to reflect this, so all you need to do is pick your favorite Bond girl and steal her style! At Walk in Wardrobe we can help you achieve both of these very important factors for your Bond party, it’s probably the reason why we are the first port of call for the local ladies attending Bond themed events!
So once you look drop dead gorgeous, all you need to worry about is making sure that the drinks are shaken and not stirred….
The lace dress is the new little black dress!
The winter temperatures seem to be coming at us full steam but that doesn’t mean that you can’t turn up the heat a notch in your wardrobe with one of our hot lacy dresses! This gorgeous little craze for lace has really hit the fashion scene with our customers at the boutique looking for lovely lacy numbers and celebrities in their droves wearing them on the red carpet, such as Kate Middleton, Jessica Alba and Daisy Lowe. It’s easy to see why these dresses have taken off in the way they have, they are sexy, sophisticated, elegant, and lets face it, a little bit romantic!
Akin to the little black dress, the little lacy dress is guaranteed to be drop dead gorgeous at any occasion. Black on black gives a stunningly chic look, and a light colour such as nude or champagne under black lace looks utterly exquisite, ensuring that you will stand out from the crowd. Sheer, lacy sleeves have also been popular at the boutique, adding a touch of class and they are also fantastic if you are not so confident about your arms.
These lacy dresses are very easy to accessorise, lending themselves to either silver or gold, adding that little bit of twinkle and making you sparkle and shimmer with nothing but pure glamour!
Walk in Wardrobe Fashion Trend Focus
One of the most exciting autumn/winter trends to me personally is the undeniably dramatic Baroque trend, possibly because of its rebellious attitude towards the concept of less is more in the economic downturn! It neatly ties in with rich, warm autumnal colours and is a look that simply oozes decadence, exuberance and the height of sophistication. The very minute the Dolce and Gabanna models glided down the catwalk in Milan in their sumptuous baroque gowns, we knew that this look was going to be HUGE! At Walk in Wardrobe we have remained bang on trend and have sourced the most gorgeous baroque inspired dresses at unbeatable prices to ensure that you can look every inch the baroque queen when you go to your special occasion!
This look is all about embellishment, shimmer and gold EVERYWHERE, reviving the regal trends of the 17th century, being ornate, intricate and completely utterly gorgeous. This style largely concentrates on black and gold, and looks amazingly fabulous with matching black and gold accessories from the dramatic chandelier earrings to sparkly bangles and gorgeous clutch bags. However, although this look is very much about the blacks and golds, don’t be afraid to add some colour to your baroque outfit. Claret reds, cobalt blue and royal purples can continue to give you that expensive, opulent baroque feel. Regardless of how you wear your baroque look, there’s only one thing to do now – get shopping and get that look!
Autumn 2012’s hottest fashion trends
This year I seem to have blinked at the crucial moment when summer arrived in the UK. My circle of friends have been very disappointed with the summer this year, but here at Walk in Wardrobe we believe that there is always a silver lining, this particular silver lining being in the shape of an opportunity to start experimenting with a new line of autumn fashion trends! There has been so much excitement amongst the fashion circles as this autumn’s fashion promises to be uniquely different from previous autumns of late, being bolder and more blingy! Here are the key autumnal fashion trends for 2012:
Bold colours: The autumn fashion this year has moved away from traditional autumnal shades of browns and dark greens. Instead, designers have been picking out the boldest colours in their colour pallet, in particular the most luxurious shades of cobalt blue and royal purple. One noticeable hot trend on the autumn runway was to mix cobalt blue with black. This look can be achieved with one of our gorgeous little cobalt blue dresses and accessorising with our sparkly black bangles, fascinators or sparkly alice bands. Team this look up with a killer pair of black heels and voila! You’re ready to go!
Shimmer and lace: That very classy look of shimmer and lace are in this autumn to give you that elegant and chic evening look. These lacy accents look gorgeous over the neck and back, and lace overlays have the most stunning, show stopping effect. These lacy adornments are not only there to glam up a dress, they can also be very flattering for ladies who want to cover problem areas such as their arms. Lacy sleeves can stop an outfit from looking frumpy and maintain a glamorous look whilst still giving you confidence.
Cinched-in waists: This can only mean one thing – the much-favoured peplum is still in! These flattering dresses have a unique ability to cinch in the waists of all body shapes whilst also elongating the figure and giving you that iconic silhouette! At the boutique we have the perfect dress in stock which will kill two fashion birds with one stone – the royal purple peplum dress!
Bling: Sparkly accessories will be all the rage this autumn, cheering up the autumn weather with a bit of glitz and bling! We have so many twinkling little gems at the boutique at the moment from bangles to hair candy to shoes to complete your autumnal look.
